Insufficient memory errors are often resolved by merely rebooting the device. I take my hat off to you. Awesome post, spot on.

  • If you did want to run it, you probably just need to go to Administrative Tools -> Services and make sure Windows Defender is set to "Automatic" and is enabled.

I had encountered one such virus and during removal i ran into this issue.

Windows Defender Application failed to initialize: 0x80070006. I had to go into safe mode to run a malware scan and quarrantine the SOB. Had the Vista Security 2012 malware infection and fixed all of it except for Defender. The issue went away and Defender is now working!
