A post about validating your mp3 files gave a link to a program that would fix this problem, and VOILA, it worked. Freeware that converts ID3v2.4 to ID3v2.3, which both vista and 7 handle well. In WMP12, such mp3 files are displayed as no length. Are you sure that the file you tested with only contained v2.4 tags?
